After years of persistent advocacy, a Transportation Commission for Duluth is finally within reach. This commission would transform how our city plans streets—helping to ensure they work for everyone whether you walk, bike, drive, or use transit.
The proposed commission would:
- Advise on transportation policies like snow removal and complete streets
- Advise on planning, scoping, and design of transportation infrastructure in order to address the safety and accessibility needs for users.
- Provide a public forum for community concerns
- Recommend priorities for future investments
Update: At the July 21st council meeting, the vote was tabled to allow for edits from additional city staff and to address some councilors' concerns about the number of commissions. The final vote is due to happen this Monday, September 8th.
Your voice is still critical! We need to continue showing our councilors that this is a priority for our community. Take two minutes to send a message to your councilors today; your voice can help create safer, more accessible streets for generations to come.
